6/17/18 – Dr. Ruth Miller – Fathers Day

“We are the fathers, blessed with a gentle strength” is a line in a song reminding us that “we are the ones we’ve been waiting for.” Since Jesus the Nazarene is said to have referred to the power he relied on as “Daddy” and “Father” Christianity has woven divinity and fatherhood into one complicated strand. In today’s world, the role of father is often confused and confusing, but that hasn’t always been the case and there are archetypal images in our society’s consciousness that can help us remember what it means to lovingly father a child – or an adult who was once our child. Today we honor those who have provided that role for others as we tap into the Animus, the father, in all of us.
